Isaac Dawe was born c Jan 1827 at Newton Mill, Tavistock,
Devon, England,
(assumes 23 Jan is baptism, not birth).
He was christened on 23 Jan 1827 in the Anglican Church., Tavistock.
and married Elizabeth Melloney Staddon, daughter of Samuel Staddon and Melloney Scobell,
bet Jan 1851 - Mar 1851.
When William Sydney Smith Gill married Sarah Jane Dawe
on 4 Mar 1879 it was at Isaac's house. From 1860-1867, Isaac was occupier of the flour mill at Strathmore,
south of Evandale, owned by James Cox of Clarendon. Presumably most, if not all
of his children to his first wife were brought up here.

Isaac Dawe died on 20 May 1894 at Gladstone, Tasmania. He died very suddenly and peacefully. He is buried at Gladstone.
